Quick Reference about Testing (The following guidelines are condensed from the most recent U. S. EPA)

Test during any season

All outside doors, windows, and vents should be kept closed from 12 hours before starting the radon test until the end of the test

Maintain normal entry and exit routines but close the door behind you
-
Permanently installed radon mitigation systems, air to air heat exchanger, and/or combustion air supplies for furnaces, etc., can be operated normally
-
Do not operate whole house or window fans while using the radon test kit
-
Avoid blowing air near radon tester

Do not start radon gas detection test if severe weather is expected. (major storms with winds exceeding 30 miles/hour

Do not test if holidays will prevent your radon test from reaching the lab on time
-
Exposed 72 to 168 hours (three to seven days)

Must leave radon test kit in place for at least 3 days
-
May expose radon tester up to 7 days unless testing in a humid environment (over 55% relative humidity)

Mail radon test sample/s within one day of completing the test

Radon test result will be an average of approximately the last 4 days of the exposure period
