Quick Reference about Testing (The following guidelines are condensed from the most recent U. S. EPA)

• Test during any season
• All outside doors, windows, and vents should be kept closed from 12 hours before starting the radon test until the end of the test
• Maintain normal entry and exit routines but close the door behind you
• Permanently installed radon mitigation systems, air to air heat exchanger, and/or combustion air supplies for furnaces, etc., can be operated normally
• Do not operate whole house or window fans while using the radon test kit 
• Avoid blowing air near radon tester
• Do not start radon gas detection test if severe weather is expected. (major storms with winds exceeding 30 miles/hour
• Do not test if holidays will prevent your radon test from reaching the lab on time
• Exposed 72 to 168 hours (three to seven days)
• Must leave radon test kit in place for at least 3 days
• May expose radon tester up to 7 days unless testing in a humid environment (over 55% relative humidity)
• Mail radon test sample/s within one day of completing the test
• Radon test result will be an average of approximately the last 4 days of the exposure period
